1. What did you do in 2011 that you'd never done before?
Coordinated a wedding :)

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Probably not, and probably yes, respectively.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope, but a couple are going to in '12 :)

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope.  Very blessed in this area as I've not yet personally experience a death of a loved one.  Though for this reason I think it will be all the much harder, having to deal with such a new, and intense loss at an older age.

5. What travels did you embark upon?
Went to Colorado, Las Vegas, Florida

6. What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
Integrity, unshakeable faith, resoluteness

7. What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I think my good friend's wedding.  All the weddings I've even been apart of, I was much too young to understand or appreciate them.  It was a blessing and privilege to be so involved in such a special moment in my friends' lives!

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I think proving myself at my current job.  I earned their respect and their appreciation.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Being so foolish with my heart and that of others.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

11. What was the best thing you bought?
iPhone 4s.  Absolutely love it.

12. Whose behaviour merited celebration?
*thinks* I'm not sure...

13. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed?
Nothing as tragic as that, but I was saddened by one of my guy friend's constant immature choices...

14. Where did most of your money go?
Travelling, paying off my car (yay she's mine!), and iPhone :)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Paying off my car, buying my iPhone, seeing my fam in CO for the first time in a whole year!!!!

16. What songs will always remind you of 2011?
Anything by Adele, The Black Keys; Shake Me Down by Cage the Elephant; anything from the Vice Verses Switchfoot album :)

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. Happier or sadder? Hmmm...  Probabbly happier in some regards, and sadder in others.
ii. Thinner or fatter? I think the same.
iii. richer or poorer? Same.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Read, and especially write.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Spending money, wasting my time :P

20. How did you spend Christmas?
With a friend's family of 50 odd people

21. Did you fall in love in 2011?
You could say that.

22. What was your favourite TV program?
New Girl all the way! :)  Got addicted to Dragon's Den too

23. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?

24. What was the best book you read?
Sheesh I don't think I read much . Maybe Hinds feet in High Places.

25. What was your greatest musical discovery?
City Harmonic, from Hamilton, baby.

26. What did you want and get?
My very own iPhone :)

27. What did you want and not get?
Move back to US, find love, be sure of myself

28. What was your favourite film of this year?
I absolutely adored The Muppets.  But Drive, Super 8, Mission Impossible IV and Transformers were great.  Also, I think In Time is a 2011 movie seriously underestimated.

29. What was your most shameful moment of 2011?
Finding myself settling, once again.

30. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Turned 23.  On the day I had Bible study, but that Friday we went to Dave & Buster's where my friends won me my own huge Domo doll :D

31. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
"Spend it where it counts".  This was the first year where I actually spend some real money to buy nice clothes.

32. What kept you sane?
My peeps, God, church, new job

33. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
No one.  Not into that sort of thing.

34. What current events stirred you the most?
Steve Job's death, Obama administration, Osama Bin Laden

35. Who did you miss?
C&B and the clan

36. Who was the best new person you met?
Don't think I met anyone new with whom I became close

37. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
Don't counterfeit love. Don't settle for less than what you deserve, and more what your heart longs for.  Don't settle because you lack faith.  Believe. Take heart. Have faith.  Have courage, and press on.

38. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
Say by OneRepublic

Do you know where your heart is?
Do you think you can find it?
Or did you trade it for something
Somewhere better just to have it?
Do you know where your love is?
Do you think that you lost it?
You felt it so strong but
Nothing's turned out how you wanted

Well bless my soul
You're a lonely soul
Cause you won't let go
Of anything you hold

Well all I need
Is the air I breathe
And a place to rest
My head

Do you know what your fate is?
And are you trying to shake it?
You're doing your best and
Your best look
You're praying that you make it

So...so much has happened.

I shall give you the Cliff Notes version

  • In one weekend, Chandra & Brian got an offer on the house when it wasn't even listed and the house was in its worst conditiom ever - literally undergarments spewn on countertops and dog poo in shower

  • Week later, they signed a contract with the buyers. Cash. For both house and property. And they want to buy some of the furnishings too.

  • That weekend, C&B&co flew to Colorado and made an offer on a 80-acre ranch

  • Before all this, I was planning on taking vacation in July and going out to PA

  • When this all happened, I think booked off 2 weeks from July 11

  • Then I found out they are now moving July 10/11th.

  • I don't think I will get to see my home one last time.

  • At work, they have come out with a new roster of which I am now merchandiser. It is a lucrative position, and fun and challenging. No more dumb customer service for the most part heh.

  • Today, I started training for keyholder position!! Which means double raise because I'm also supposed to be getting my annual performance-based raise soon, which I believe will be good. :) My boss loves me and has chosen me as "key associate" for some important business conference call. It worries me a little she puts me on such a high pedestal and tells me I'm going places. Just further for me to fall and disappoint but I appreciate what this job and this new role is teaching me. Teaching me real leadership skills & help build a backbone haha

  • I am not moving out with C&B to Colorado right away like originally planned. God wants me here longer, which at first was heart-breaking. But He knows what He's doing. He sold C&B's house under amazing circumstances. I remember in September asking the pastor's wife to pray for C&B and the house to sell. I don't remember anything except that she prayed for cash buyers. I remember being at first surprised, "I never thought to pray that big... But man...it's a million dollar home. No one's going to pay cash for it." But it stuck in my head, and I told C&B and look - cash buyer for 1.5 million sale!!!

  • The boy and I are just being friends, but have kind of gone back and forth on that. Mostly my fault. Still wondering if he's boyfriend material, but we have all the time to figure that out. I just gotta stop mixing my signals and make sure my actions follow suit with my words. :/

  • I got a new client. Once I am done the work for both of my clients, I think I will start applying/looking for a part-time graphic design internship or other similar position

  • C&B&co should be visiting Toronto next weekend!!!!! Now something may come up with meeting the buyers, but goodness I pray they can still come. I miss them so much :( :( And want them to meet all my new family here :)

BTW, Kachi, we still need to do Wonderland!! Wanna do sometime in August or October? If we pick a date, I think I can get a good group of us to go :) You're so cool, I wanna show you off to my friends here lol. Second BTW, how do you like this entry plug ;) feel special? :)

I don't know :/

More fun than Foosball in that it requires quite a bit of brain power if you want to win well:

Boccerball :D

Friends of mine bought it at a garage sale and we had a mini tournament. I won the first round, and then moved to the other side and lost. We later realized the table was slanted XD

Hope all of yer Easter weekend was good. Mine went pretty well.

Off to work now <3

I'm tired.

the end.

this is my attempt to journal.

I shall get back to you.

Ottawa next weekend. Be there my fellow Ottawinians.

10 March 2010 @ 11:45 pm

I just want people to take me as I am. I don't play games, and I don't put on airs.

Just because you do doesn't mean you should only see me in that light.

I hate being misunderstood. It's such a gross feeling.

And I need to get over it. We're all often misunderstood.

And it annoys me.

I wish we would all grow up, be mature and just be. Don't pretend. Don't try. Just be.

And move on.
17 January 2010 @ 08:04 pm
So um. I snowboard now :)

Went for my second time today. Caught on finally how to switch from heal to toe and do the S curve.

It's so much fun. I missed skiing, so I'm glad I got into this. I was given the board by a friend, and so I just had to buy boots (got 'em used only couple times for $50) and bindings (which I got good new ones for only 30 bucks).

My friend Dom who gave me his old board is teaching my friend, Joanne, and I.

There's a cheap city ski/snowboard place in Toronto. Since it's owned by the city, for two hours I can pay 11 to 16 dollars ('cause I can pass as under 19 LOL) and a little more for a whole day. So it's a decent price. There is Lakeridge which is better, but pricier. I'm sure we'll get there soon.

In the meantime I don't my practicing on crappier hills.

I love winter. We also skated on the lake.

And I saw both a wild cyote and fox by my house.

I hate Toronto - the traffic and city - but I am enjoying myself here. :)

Want. to. visit. Ottawa. though.

Had a great time in PA. Sad to see it end so quickly.

I did very well with presents, and I am so privileged and lucky. This was the first Christmas I gave out a gift list ('cause I hadn't really mentioned much of what I was wanting). I got like everything on it. o.O

So here is what I got this Christmas:

  • Casting Crowns CD
  • $15 iTunes gift card
  • $40 Target gift card
  • $25 Ulta (makeup) gift card
  • 16 gb memory card for camera
  • Pjs
  • Satsuma Body Shop gift set :) :)
  • Dream Cream from Lush
  • Scarf & hat
  • Bunch of small goodies like lip balm, chocolate etc.
  • Wet to dry straightener (one of my fav. gifts!)
  • Hailey bought me this eyeshadow kit (apparently she saw it and thought of me? ha)

That's what I can remember so far...I probably have forgotten something.

Anddd the whole family also got a surprise trip to NYC. The night we arrived, I discovered a torn piece of paper by the Christmas tree.

It read:

Merry Christmas Mommy, Sharai, Allison, Marisa, Kierra & Hailey

You _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 7_00 _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ C_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ W_ _ _ _ D_ _! E_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ You _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ 3 _ _ D_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ S_ _ _ _.

Love, Santa

Evidently, Brian had taken the time to make it look all torn and old (dyed paper with tea) and pretended to know nothing about it. On the note, it also said we could make full sentence guesses. We spent the rest of that night trying to figure the code.

I figured out the first part: "You have until 7:00..." which triggered the rest. I didn't think we'd be able to figure it out, but we actually cracked the code in the day.

And so it read:
You have until 7:00 am to get ready to go shopping in New York City for the whole day. Each one of you will get your age times 3 in dollars to spend.

"Santa" didn't indicate what day, but once we cracked it, Brian told us we'd be going on Saturday. So...I got 63 bucks to spend in the city :).

We had a lot of fun and really just shopped and ate the entire day. I took lots of photos so once I get my luggage I'll post 'em on Facebook.

shalom and love y'all

Took lots of photos, so once I get my luggage I'll post them on Facebook.

Welcome 2010! Reading through 2009's entries, I realized how old I feel already in this lifetime and how incredibly quickly the year 2009 passed me by. It's alarming and sobering feeling actually. I don't want to let life just sift through my fingers.

I'm back in Toronto. This return was a little tougher emotionally and situationally (I made up the word for context purposes). In short, my luggage is in downtown Toronto, and apparently I am expected to pick it up. I am awaiting a call from the supervisor to resolve this issue that was their fault. More on that later.

Anyway, onto the meme.
